This full home remodel features a contemporary dual-island kitchen that visually connects the adjacent dining area and great room. Natural light flows through the space and makes the room appear taller, which enhances the linear design. Tall cabinetry in the kitchen provides abundant storage in a streamlined look. An integrated Sub-Zero refrigerator/freezer blends seamlessly into the wall of cabinets behind white high gloss paneling. Abundant counter space, as well as bar-height seating, makes this aesthetically appealing contemporary kitchen a central gathering place for entertaining guests or just casual everyday use. Opening up the kitchen to the dining area and great room allows for free-flowing conversation. The dining area, great room, and den are furnished with timeless pieces influenced by Mid-Century Modern design.
Modern Kitchen Remodel
The kitchen was completely remodeled with Ultracraft cabinetry with slab door and horizontal grain cabinets. The black appliances are paired with white perimeter quartz countertops and wood tones bringing the textures alive and adding a warm feel to the ambiance. Mixing in eclectic raw materials helped give clean, modern lines to the entire space, bringing forth the feeling of the midcentury era. Bringing it all together, the second island adds extra space that doesn't compromise the ability to seat family and guests while cooking and entertaining.
The remodel of the kitchen and living area focused around the client's love of European contemporary styles. The clients wanted to bring the style they knew from their previous homes in Europe into their current home in Birmingham, MI. With the limited kitchen space available, Poggenpohl cabinetry was chosen as the best option to give this kitchen the maximum amount of storage without sacrificing the European look. The heavy use of stylish grey wood tones and white high gloss make the kitchen appear bold and modern. The black absolute elevated countertop designates a perfect eating and serving area. Flowing into the living room, there is a mixture of rigid linear elements complimented with soft textures that create the perfect area to relax next to the custom entertainment with an integrated fireplace.here
